Assistant Accountant

Full-time

The business is a well-established wholesale business dealing with both Australian and overseas customers. A Mandarin-speaking accountant is needed to manage the accounting side of the business.

 Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to book of accounts, including reconciling daily banking transactions, standard journal entries, documenting business transactions.

  • Assistance in month-end close processing including adjustment entry posting (accruals, prepayments & intercompany transactions) and general ledger account reconciliation.

  • Preparation of monthly management report including profit and loss statements, balance sheet and cash flow statement.

  • Payroll processing and reconciliation.

  • Prepare information for Business Activity Statement [BAS], annual PAYG

  • payment summary report and other compliance work.

  • Developing budget, cash flow forecast and company accounting policy.

  • Reviewing actuals against budget and providing advice and early warning of such problems as cost over-runs, potential cash flow problem, and excessive charges.

  • Monthly inventory reconciliation and discrepancy analysis.

  • Responsible for adhering to international payments and receipts and relevant legislation.

  • Liaising with customers (domestic and international) for invoice queries and overdue debt.

  • Liaising with suppliers (domestic and international) for accounting related queries and issues.

  • Prepare monthly sales reports and analysis.

  • Document, verify and reconcile contracts, orders.

  • Liaising with external accountant and other professionals.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multitask.

  • Excellent knowledge of Xero or similar accounting software.

  • Excel skills must be at an intermediate to advanced level.

  • Wholesale experience preferred but not essential.
